Dental Fluoride Treatment in South Reno, NV

Great for kids and adults!

Prone to cavities? Protect your teeth with a fluoride treatment

Over 90% of people will experience tooth decay at some point during their life. Even proper at-home brushing and flossing habits aren’t always a guaranteed way to prevent a cavity from sneaking up.

Because South Reno doesn’t add fluoride to its tap water, we often recommend a fluoride treatment as a great way to give your teeth an extra layer of protection against decay. This is a great treatment to add to your routine dental cleaning appointment. Contact us to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is fluoride bad?

No! Generally speaking, there are no drawbacks to our fluoride treatment. While ingesting large amounts of fluoride is not recommended, we only apply fluoride topically. Because it’s sticky, you don’t have to worry about it rinsing off. Fluoride is a great way to safely and effectively strengthen your and your entire family’s teeth and reduce the risk of tooth decay.

Do I still need to have my teeth cleaned twice per year?

Yes. Although fluoride will help protect against cavities, routine professional dental cleanings are still needed to keep bacteria-filled tartar from building up and hurting your gums or causing decay.

Is fluoride recommended for kids?

Yes, professionally applied fluoride treatments are recommended for all kids (even infants and toddlers when teeth are newly erupted) to reduce the risk of developing tooth decay. We may also recommend a dental sealant in addition to fluoride, depending on your child’s needs. Fluoride toothpaste is recommended for all kids by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, just be sure to use a smear or rice-sized amount for kids under 3 and a pea-sized amount for kids age 3-6. Have your child spit out the excess, but keep rinsing to a minimum to maximize the anti-cavity effect.
